Bern's Stade de Suisse, Switzerland 
In Switzerland, Bern's Stade de Suisse houses the biggest solar power installation ever incorporated into the roof of a football stadium. It has been recognised by the European Association for Renewable Energy (Eurosolar) and has won the Swiss Solar Prize. 
Dartford Football Stadium 
Princes Park was designed with many ecological features and principles. It has its own lakes which catch rainwater for the pitches meaning that no mains water is required. Solar panels provide hot water and underfloor heating, there's a grass roof and a special bus service operates on match days, cutting out many car journeys.

Emirates Stadium (Arsenal FC) 
Waste minimisation and management programme, waterless urinals, environmental policy, transport policy, energy saving measures implemented 
European Healthy Stadia Network 
This organisation brings together stadia from across Europe to learn and share best practice, and to act as an advocacy voice for issues concerning sports and health, including environmental issues. Top clubs and stadia are involved, including Liverpool FC and Manchester United FC. Toolkits and case studies can be found on the website and there is an annual conference to share progress and good practice.

Have achieved the Carbon Trust Standard, ISO 20121 and ISO14001. Were top in CRC league tables in Year 1 but have slipped down in Year 2

NĀrburgring Formula 1 circuit in Germany 
The F1 circuit is the first and only race course to adopt the European Union?s Eco-management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). Since 1996, the circuit has set the pace for environmental sustainability in motor racing and has created a benchmark for other motor sport venues. Among its environmental targets was a 40 per cent reduction of waste per visitor in its ?Rock am Ring? festival, and a reduction for of 70 per cent for 24-hour racing compared to 1998. Other measures include the replacement of the heating system by natural gas and the installation of a 24- hour noise monitoring system.
