sustainable event management and BS8901

With London 2012 just around the corner the events industry and its suppliers are getting involved in the whole concept of sustainability. What exactly is a ‘sustainable event’ is a well debated topic but the reality is that BS8901 provides a framework for running an event or supplying an event to a standard that takes the social, economic and environmental impacts of the event into account.

It is a new and rapidly growing field with London 2012 currently undergoing its own certification process and having published its own guidelines for corporate and public events aas well as encourging partners and suppliers on the same journey.  Earth to Ocean is following the developments and can help you work out what type of certification is applicable to your situation and how you would implement this.

Earth to Ocean has developed a simple method of implementing a sustainable management system for sports events following the BS8901 format. We can work with you to achieve this standard so you are able to self certify or proceed to external certification of required. We recognise that this process should be affordable and accessible for small businesses wishing to move towards more sustainable management.
