research
The impacts of sport and recreation on the environment are too frequently poorly researched and little understood. Isolated incidences of unacceptable conduct or damaging impacts from "honeypot" recreation sites (those sites that attract many users) are often used to highlight alleged widespread damaging effects from a sporting or recreational activity.
While there is no doubt that sporting and recreational pursuits can have very real and damaging environmental impacts it is important that thorough research is undertaken so that appropriate management measures can be put in place.
Earth to Ocean can:
Carry out literature reviews to ascertain the evidence base for a particular activity / impact and to identify data gaps
Analyse current research findings to produce an up-to-date picture
Conduct primary research (including interviewing, workshops, field work) to inform new research studies
