Whilst coastal and marine planning and management has been around for many years, from a national perspective there are few examples where effective integrated coastal and marine management can really be found. On a smaller scale however, there are localised areas where integrated management of these complex zones can and does work effectively.  Through fully engaging the different users and understanding their needs and interests a balance of interests can be achieved. 

Earth to Ocean are experienced in identifying the pitfalls and analysing the effectiveness of integrated coastal management. We are have also gained practical management experience in marine protected area management abroad and harbour management in the UK. We are also able to advise on the environmental implications of marine and coastal developments in the UK.

We strongly believe that in the majority of situations a balance of interests can be achieved and the goal of sustainable use, that underpins marine and coastal management can become a reality.
